review 1: I'm a fan of the Danver's series, and I really enjoyed Brant and Emma's story. I loved the banter between these two, and it was obvious that they had some serious sexual tension going on between them. Emma's crazy, pain killer induced behavior was hilarious, and her mother's extremely uncomfortable conversations provided some laugh out loud moments. I love this group of characters and can't wait for more.
review 2: Readers looking for a great office romance series, need look no further than Sydney Landon's, Danvers series! No Denying You is the fifth book in the series and readers who are familiar with Landon's work will love the snarky dialogue and sexy characters. Emma finds the perfect blackmail photo that puts her boss, Brant, in the hot seat in more way
... mores than one. It's a great story with a lot of hilarity and visits from previous characters in the series. If you've ever thought about what it would be like to be with the boss... this book is for you! What I liked:I think everybody has thought about having a romance with someone they worked with, whether they actually did it or not. One of the things I love about the Danvers series, is that the characters didn't just stop at thinking about it. They took that next step and didn't look back. I did too... and it was one of the best decisions I ever made, so I can understand all of the benefits and difficulties it entails. It can be hot and it certainly is in this book, but it can also be hard to handle, which can be fun LOL... the list goes on and on!Brant Stone is Emma's boss and she does NOT like him. In fact she tries her dead level best to irritate the heck out of him. She wants a transfer and he won't give it, so she's trying to give him a reason. She's snarky, and bitchy and altogether a horrible secretary for him, but he likes the banter between them. And I did too. One of the best parts of this book was the verbal sparring between these characters. Emma would fire off a comment and Brant would come right back. I loved that interplay between them. It was almost like their fighting became a form of foreplay that was irresistible.I liked Emma. She was a tough cookie. But she had some family issues. Her mom and book club friends wanted her to get a boob job in order to get a man. She had her high school reunion coming up and she didn't want to show up without a date... how would that look? Like she was a loser. When she comes across a rather risque photo of the boss, she hatches a plan to solve her reunion problem. Brant will accompany her, as her boyfriend to put all the matchmakers and neighsayer's in their place and she won't expose his college foray into modeling. Perfect plan... except he is totally hot and totally into the charade they are creating.Brant was super sexy. He kind of acted like he had stick up his butt for the first several chapters, but that's be expected. He was an executive. Used to getting what he wanted and a bit uptight to say the least. I enjoyed it when he started letting lose and getting into character as Emma's man. But it proved to be too much for the both of them and the hot and steamy parts of the book were very well written. I love that love - hate relationship thing they had going on between. It often seems like when too fiery people are at odds with each other, there is just something under the surface and it's usually passion. The ladies from Danvers were a real hoot. I love it when they all get together and dish on the guys. Suzy is a true riot. I love her sassy attitude and down right perverted nature. She would totally be a good friend of mine were she real. Landon has a knack for writing the relationships between her female characters with just enough reality to make it funny, but sooo true. Loved that part.Bottom Line:I loved the story line, the way things played out, even the heartbreak and tragedy were well written and important to the outcome. There were several repeat characters from the series, including Emma's comrades at Danvers. Landon did a great job of portraying the relationships between the women in this series and Brant was hotter than a firecracker. All buttoned up, but so ready for the right woman. Exactly what you want when you want the boss! less
