review 1: Qu'importe le nombre de mois passés dans la Taïga, ceux qui y vont pour le plaisir d'en revenir sont de banals touristes animés de songes citadins, d'élans mystiques et de condescendance bête à l'égard de la nature et des autochtones. Sylvain Tesson raconte Les Forêts de Sibérie en promeneur du dimanche, dans la conviction d'un retour imminent. Comment vit-on dans ces forêts lorsqu'on en revient pas ? On ne le saura pas. De belles photos suffisaient.
review 2: Adored it!!! Left me wanting to find my own secluded cabin. one reviewer mentioned the "drinking", well where I live a lot a people drink daily but aren't anywhere near as interesting, deep thinking so that wasn't a problem for me. Think perhaps one has to be a bit solitary themselves to underst... moreand the desire to want do as he. So many of us only understand being able to talk about what one has accomplished at any given moment. So to say to someone, I sat having a cigar and watching nature, looks would abound for sure. I truly read it curled up, in flannel PJs while it rained the last 3 days. Could not have asked for any nicer, more interesting, quiet company. Nor did I want "him" to leave. Bonus is the list of books he read while there. They have now been added to my reading list! Hope they translate his other travel books into English so I may read them. less
