review 1: Though there is something I don't agree with in the book. The biggest thing is Ted is 100 percent for the Constitution and Bill of Rights. He is not by far. Some of his view go against what the forefathers wrote in this documents. Though I did agree with a lot of what Mr. Nugent says about our current state of affairs in certain areas. My biggest disagreement with him in this book is he neglect of Due Process, and the simple Innocent until proven guilty. Though agreed it is not a perfect system. Killing criminals and calling the police to clean the mess up is a tad bit on the extreme. That was my biggest disagreement with his view because he claims to be pro Constitution yet that one view is anti-Constitution.Other then that one major difference I agreed Smith the majority... more of what his views are with maybe a little minor difference (though this would be a few things). Yet even with my minor difference the outcome would be relatively the same.It was a great book and I would give it 4 and a half stars but I can't so I gave it 5. WOrth reading in my eyes.
review 2: What can I say? You will either disagree or agree with him. Odds are good if you fall in the conservative spectrum, you will like him better than if you are on the liberal side. He does have some common sense ideas, and he does seem to have thought them through. However, like a lot of hardcore libertarians, a sense of extreme individualism, often at the expense of others, is present. Things like taking personal responsibility, a good work ethic, and values are certainly things I can agree on. Pretty much cutting out things like safety nets under the hopes that the private sector and charities will take care of the most needy just are not true. All we have to do is look at the current environment to see that without regulation the haves will pretty much screw everyone else over. Nugent seems to miss that. But he is not totally black and white, which may be why some on both sides of the political spectrum can find some common points. If nothing else, the book did give me some things to think about, and that, for me, is always a good thing. less
