Angel in Disguise; Halloween Outfit 2017

I think by now we all know I love dressing up for holidays and event; it’s the perfect opportunity to play around, be creative and be EXTRA! Halloween is exactly what I needed to let my creative juices flowing for this year, and to come up with something daring, simple and scary.

As per usual I write these ‘Event full outfit’ post after the event simply because the purpose of me putting this content out there is not for readers to buy exactly what I used and to create something in the exact way I have (although you are very welcome to). I like to type up my outfit post for events after I have worn them for three reason.

  • my contents purpose is for you to draw inspiration or to give you ideas, so it doesn’t really matter if the contents posted after. For example, things you might like in my Halloween post, you might draw something up but tweak it slightly for a costume party or a themed night out. Also people might somehow from searching the web ended up on this post (…and if you did, this part is probably all random rambles about nothing you particularly care about) and may use this for future Halloween’s to come
  • I find that if I did the post before the event, you don’t get to see the last minute changes, the things that really make the difference, the part where I have to completely improvise and scrummage through everything I own to find exactly what I need to pull the look together or the last minute ideas which in the end really makes the whole outfit come together…if I planned the whole post, you would never get to see all that! I just don’t particularly enjoy planning the outfit, writing it exactly how I plan to, make sure I include one creative aspect to the outfit that makes it unique to give the post value, make sure my idea is perfect and not have the enthusiasm cause the whole outfit is a waste because I had to take it all off after anyways
  • And number 3…I can’t lie…blogging is something I do on the side of uni, hobbies, and having a social life, so I struggle to make time to even be a consistent blogger right now;I simply don’t have the time (or energy) to put together the exact same outfit two days later! And if I tried, due to the last two reason, my content would be shit.
  • So there it is, why my content always seems to be posted days after everyone else does theirs the week before or sometimes even earlier. With that out the way, let’s get straight into the look I put together for Halloween…

Outfit; I just wanted to be simple and where all black. I got my wings from a Halloween shop where I live but you can pretty much get a hold of them if you have a search online. I got my suspender tights from Primark because why would I splash out on some if they are a) going to be worn once and b) going to probs get ruined with fave blood and paint. I then had some red ribbon I had saved from my costume last year which I tied around the straps. I wanted to keep the outfit a little classy just cause I knew I was going to slut it up with the suspenders (Debenehams).

    Top; Topshop

    Skirt; Abercrombie and Fitch

Make up; and now for the creative part! My basic tips for costume and Halloween make up is you can literally go crazy with the contouring as long as you blend really well. you can use black paint but this can be a little tricky or pick up a contour stick that’s a few shades darker than your usual one (to save money since you may not end up using this often and for a wide range of colours to choose from I would recommend the contour sticks by NYX) contouring deeper and more of a skeletal shape where you drag the contour down at the end looks great on pictures (my bf’s tinder pic was literally him and his mates with fully chiseled cheek bones for Halloween and let me tell you it was a game changer aka a swipe to the right (I later found out his ex had done it for him which is a little ironic and I’m also  not surprised since bae has no artistic potential when it comes to make up but this is so so so of track))!!!>*&

I saw these ‘blind’ contacts on a instagram video where a girl use it for a skeleton look but you can pretty much use them for any scary costume. They are something I have never seen in previous years  but defo have a wow factor. the onces I got were a one time use contacts. As cool as they are I didn’t end up wearing them out as it reduces your vision by about 70% which made it impossible to see which I didn’t realise they did when I got them. I felt they were a bit of a waste of money for this reason even though they looked sick in the pictures.

I used a lot of black for the eye make up, literally to keep this process simple found a transition eye shadow colour that will transition from black to my skin tone. I just used the deepest black I could find (Beg For it I think it’s called by MAC) because you can’t really go wrong with this for any look but also it was perfect when I used the glitter. I used the colour Sin (ironic again) from the first Naked palette in my inner corners to highlight my eyes. I used Vaseline to stick the glitter on since most glues i find irritating and Vaseline is easy to remove at the end of the night and then used my white eyeliner by NYX to draw on some more lightning like strands. And lastly for my lips, I finished with MAC’s black lipstick.

I hope you enjoyed the look! I pretty much made it up as I went along but I was really happy with the end product.

    Nish x
