review 1: I find the exotic locale of the story intriguing but the love-hate sexual tension between Ash and Clarinda draggy and tedious. Halfway through the story i was ready to shout of for f@@k's sake just do it already! Clarinda is stubborn, headstrong but she's clever. Win! Ash is like the gorgeous yet slimy playboy figure here yet he still gets the girl. Good points:1) not London, or Paris, or Scotland, for a change. Refreshing!2) suspense till the end - will they be able to escape? Will the story evolve anywhere outside the harem? Will someone slap the characters and tell them that they are MFEO?3) Fun secondary characters: Farouk the sultan is such a sweetie. Not slimy at all. Although he has a harem full of concubines. The BFF, Poppy, is such a darling. Yasmin, the biyatch y... moreou love to hate but you will change your mind towards the end. 4) great secret spilled towards the end. Did not expect that. Makes for a good HEA.5) surprise sweet character: solomon. I felt sad for him. Not so great points:1) greedy murderous uncle. So cliche. Think Prince of Persia movie.2) harem and lounging semi naked women. It's like a middle eastern playboy mansion with the sultan as hugh heffner. Imagine.3) eunuch. How they become eunuchs. Did your thighs press together just thinking about it? Heh heh! It's cultural, but it's so cruel. Cringe!4) gives a bad image to middle eastern dudes. Maybe muslim dudes in general? coz they can have 4 wives at one time. The buck stops there and doesnt really explain the nature and reasons for it. Just glorifies polygamy. 5) poor Max. So would i recommend the story? Well, yes. If you intend to read the second installment - The Temptation of your Touch, then you should so that you can appreciate the story better.Cheers.
review 2: Ashton has been all over the world, on one adventure after another, but now his brother needs him. Oh, but wait, he is front of a firing squad. His brother rescues him, but asks a favor. Rescue his fiancée from a sultan. Ok, well that woman is his long lost love, Clarinda.When Clarinda is captured along with her friend Poppy and given to the Sultan she pulls a Scherazade, so she doesn't have to bed him. Meanwhile Ashton shows up and the sultan recognizes him as a mate from University. The story is interesting, a second love story develops, and it is one of the few not set in London (although more seem to come out all the time). The only downer is poor Max and what will happen when he finds out about Ash and Clarinda. less
