review 1: ~~I received this book in exchange for my honest opinion~~his book was nothing like I had expected. This book also made me look at individuals differently than I had before. Sometimes, people have a run of bad luck, but all it takes is just one person to make a difference, one person to care about someone enough, to make that person change for themselves. I started reading this book right as I was getting sick, so needless to say, I read the entire book while I was trying to get better. This is the perfect book for that. This book makes you all warm and fuzzy inside. I couldn’t put this book down. I was enthralled with it. To have a character like Dean, who chose to be out on the streets versus staying in a foster situation that was terrible, for him to be split from his... more sister at such a young age, it makes him stronger, but at the same time, it makes him harden from people trying to take care of him. Anna is all about getting into that perfect college. It is what her dad wanted. That is all her dad and she talked about before he died. Her mom very distant and only is home for a short period of time, Anna has grown up taking care of herself. That is until one day in the soup kitchen where she volunteers at. Can Dean keep that hardness that he has built up? Or will he let Anna in? I love a good book that keeps me reading. This book does just that. This is a feel good book. It will make you happy that there are people out there that do good in the world, and help out when they can. This will also show you a glimpse into the world of living and surviving on the streets. The harsh reality when someone you have met has passed in a way that is unnatural. I am glad that I read this book. I can’t wait until I read more of her work!!
review 2: This was a lovely book, and emotional especially reading what Dean went through. But I loved how he was able to connect with Anna, and how she helped him see that he shouldn't give up on life, even though his whole life was turned upside down in the end he and Anna got their happy ending. I would love to read more on Katie-Anna's best friend, because it seems like she would have a good story to tell so hopefully in the near future. But overall a very good read, and I enjoyed it! less
