review 1: I wanted to like thisbut what I ended up feeling was I agree when genre writers complain about literary novelists tread on their toes.good things well it's well written it feels authentic although I'm comparing it with movies rather than life.it just wasn't engaging it didn't hit hard which if you compare it with say red harvest or Jim thompson is a crime against forman experience but not a positive one

... moreriginal characters, but there's a lot of them to keep track of (some off them having no reason to be in the book, except for color). Does the "crime" get solved? I'm not really sure, but it's really not that important to the book. I think the movie could be good, this seems like a work that could use some tightening. less
