review 1: Very interesting account about the author's education in Moslem Africa to become a cleric, his relationship with his father, his community and how his curious nature led him to experience the more decadent side of western culture in Cairo, which, in turn, led him to Christianity, specifically the Church of Jesus Christ of Later-day Saints (Mormons). This led to estrangement from his family, friends and home town, and to 15 years in Egyptian prisons where small miraculous coincidences kept him alive until he was able to connect with some outside groups who began to lobby for his release, based on medical grounds for heart disease and diabetes.Thoroughly enjoyed this and read it in about three sittings.
review 2: Tito Muhammad was raised Muhammad. Born in Nigeria... more, he was taught to observe the strict teachings if Islam. When he was five years old he starting walking up at 4:45 every morning to attend the mosque and perform dawn prayer with the other men of his village. At six he began memorizing the Qur'an by copying the entire book word for word. He was preparing to become a cleric capable to lead the jihad to convert nonbelievers to Islam.He spent several years in school and then in Egypt he was introduced to Christianity. His decision to believe in Jesus Christ cost him his family and his freedom. Sentenced to prison, he expected to spend his remaining days in an uncivilized Egyptian prison. For fifteen years he suffered, waited and prayed. He never gave up hope or quit believing. Eventually his prayers were answered. This is a story of faith and forgiveness as well as a witness that God does hear and answer prayers. less
