review 1: Playing Tyler is a cross between the movie War Games and the book Ender's Game. Tyler suffers from ADHD, and has a mostly absent mother and a drug-addled brother. His only adult friend asks him to test a video game, which turns out to have been written by Slayer Grrl, one of his idols. She has problems of her own, but has been granted a new lease on life, and is attending Yale. They fall for each other. When Tyler figures out the game is real, they go on the run, seeking someone to help them stop the madness.
review 2: Tyler was an interesting character. I think the author did a great job showing a young person who has ADD and the effects of it in his life. The language in this book is a little extreme for the junior high. Definitely a great book for 9t... moreh grade and up. I really did like this book. The characters were very real and likeable. This books had romance between Tyler and Ani, good friendships between Tyler and his two friends, dysfunctional family relationships, drug abuse, and was great at showing the love between Tyler and his brother "B". less
