review 1: Very good summary of the making of the Faberge eggs and the history surrounding them. It's an engaging story of their journey from treasured gifts to overindulgent trinkets to objects of art worth millions. I only wish this book had been available when I saw the display of American-owned eggs in 1997 in Cleveland, so I would have appreciated more what I was seeing. The chance to see that many at once will probably never come again.
review 2: Everyone has heard of Faberge Eggs but do you know the real story? This is a wonderful book that is not only the story of Carl Faberge and his eggs but also of the Russian Royal Family of Czar Nicholas. ... morestory of the Russian Revolution, the murders of the Czar's family, the aftermath, and then goes on to follow the path of the Imperial Eggs to the present day. It is a fascinating read. less
