review 1: Fascinating narrative about how far back “social media” goes. Folks, Twitter and blogging are not at all new! Egyptians, Greeks, Romans, Middle-agers, 17th century pamphleteers, ham radio operators, coffeehouse habitués, and so many more all did pretty much the same thing: obsessively share news and gossip as a way to stay connected with fellow humans. This an excellent précis how our species learned to communicate and how that’s changed our world. And who knows what will follow all this texting and Facebooking? Other media are definitely on the way. Rating: 2.5 out of 5 tweets.

... moreewspapers representing the exception from the norm. A decent rip through the history of communication but weaker when attempting to tie everything back to the latest technology ('and this Roman pantheon is what we see on Twitter today', etc) less

Focuses almost exclusively on media in the West, and covers that topic well in an engaging manner.

This was good "armchair" history. I enjoyed this and will use parts of this in class.
