review 1: After a bump or two getting on the ride, the story begins to move at a strong clip. I loved the setting (near Normandy) of occupied France in WWII. The author helped draw me into the pain, fear, and hope of the time. At times even left hints and glimpses to a different type of occupation that we are under and a subtle challenge to be a different type of resistance today (I'll let you sort that one out).Unfortunately, the story struggled with the depths of cleverness I was expecting from a top resistance movement; characters were too free with their words and thoughts, plots were not fully developed and events were too "easy" and "timely".Even with that, the book closed well and in the end was very entertaining and thought provoking. I wouldn't rush out to read it, but also... more wouldn't pass up the opportunity either.
review 2: I read a lot of books and the majority of them I enjoy. I really like several and love quite a few. Then occasionally I read something that deserves more than a "loved it". Those books deserve a spot on the top shelf. Flame of Resistance was one of those books. It was a book I got for free on Amazon and it was not only the best free book I have ever read, but one of the best books ever. Set during WWII, in occupied France, this story will grab you right from the beginning and keep you all the way through. A story of hope, freedom, evil and good, and a story of despair. Due to some mature content matter, I would only recommend for high school and up. But I think it is a must read for all of us born after the war. Though it is fiction, it has the truth written all the way through it. Great job Tracy Groot! I'd give it 6 stars if I could. less

Good read. Very informative book about the role of the French Resistance during World War II.

It was an interesting story line but a little difficult to keep the many characters straight.
