review 1: I downloaded this on a whim, as the idea seemed interesting, and I'm glad I did as I enjoyed reading the story. The opening was intriguing and had me asking lots of questions, most of which were resolved by the end of the book. I wonder if my questions about her parents, for example, will be answered in future books? The characters were developed well enough for me to be able to imagine them and Lorelei's gift is original- this is not a Twilight copy-cat. Although she is bewildered, Lorelei is not the kind of girl who lets people fight over her (although she does accept help). I'm interested in what happens next and how she develops her gift- like some other reviewers, I felt that some assumptions were made and some loose ends left, but this may be deliberate. An enjoyable ... moreread that I whipped through quite happily. review 2: I was given this book as a part of a r2r. I was instantly hooked and finished the book in 2 days. I thought Lorelei was such a realistic teenager. And while she was brave and strong still had the vulnerability that we know people really have underneath it all.In the end I felt the ending sort of felt rushed and the book came to a close with you really feeling like there was so much more to know. But of course that's how it goes when there's to be a second book. less
