review 1: This is a great read - aimed at older primary to younger secondary kids but well worth a read. The writing is clear and simple without being patronising. The protagonist of the story is 12 year old Ben Silver. A not very fit, prefers to make movies inside, average kid who has to decide between trusting his parents or trusting the evidence in front of him. The author doesn't play down how difficult it is to go against your parents - and makes the reader recognise that there is not a simple "right" and "wrong". Excellent teacher's resources in the back will make this a great school book.
review 2: This is a story about a boy, Ben Silver who one day is quickly rushed out of his house along with his sister by their parents for an apparent "holiday". As the story g
... moreoes on Ben starts to believe that this Holiday might not really be a holiday, but if not, what was it? Things are getting stranger and stranger by the minute, odds things that no normal people do on holidays and soon Ben is on the case, discovering things about what is really going on, the horrible secret that his parents are trying to keep from him and his sister. Soon Ben is faced with a number of choices that will effect him and his family for the better or the worse. Turn his parents in? Keep running? Ben is stuck for the answer! less
