review 1: Ok, yeah, I read half of this before work today and then the rest at lunch, so I think that means I enjoyed it. I like that the beautiful in-color comics are interspersed with sketchier smudgy ones that seemed to have been drawn with mechanical pencil. I thought a few of the stories ended a little abruptly, or I wished that there had been a little bit more there, but overall I enjoyed them for what they were. The last one in the book, in particular, was a favorite (and the tube socks on the end paper! so great.).
review 2: Gigantic collection of Vanessa Davis' diary comics from her sketchbooks, more polished work, and illustrations. My favorite part is the diary comics, because I never tire of people illustrating what they made for dinner, the argument they had
... more with their mother, and going shopping. I don't especially like graphic novels that are really grandiose and epic, so the laid back, slice of life type stuff appeals to me. The only bad thing about this is her boyfriend seems like a major ass, so all the "ha ha my boyfriend said this adorable thing that was actually really fucked up and rude" content were giving me major intervention feelings. less

My favorite parts were the pencil-y diary comics. I would read a whole book of just those entries.

A quick read. Reminded me of how much I liked reading zines and mini-comics.

Loved this--the art, her oddball observations, everything.
