review 1: A little torn on how to rate this book. On one hand, I wasn't overly impressed with the writing and felt myself "plugging ahead" rather than unable to put down the book. It seems Walter was more focused on telling his own story and bragging about his connections than telling the story of Clark Rockefeller, the name that interested me in the first place. On the other hand, the insight into a conman who so easily fooled educated people, intrigues me. I felt the ending just trailed off, but then again, there seems to be many unanswered questions to a real life drama, which makes it difficult for a nice, tidy ending. Ultimately, I enjoyed the book because of the content and thoughts it provoked about how well you really ever know a person.
review 2: 3.5 stars. Kir
... moren impulsively decides to drive a crippled dog from Montana to NY. The dog is being adopted by a man named Clark Rockefeller. They develop an odd, early-days-of-email, on-again off-again, quasi-friendship. Years later, Kirn learns that his "friend" is a German-born con man, accused of murder. Not really an expose', more of a "how in the hell did *I* get conned, too" mediation. Interesting! less

I found this a hard book to get into. But the subject was fascinating.
