The Black Tower, adapted from Stephen King’s eight-book series of eponymous title, won the first official trailer on Wednesday.
Jake (Tom Taylor) and Roland Deschain (Idris Elba) set out for the mysterious Black Tower, which keeps both worlds safe. However, the Man in Black (Matthew McConaughey) seeks to destroy the Tower and it is up to Roland, the ultimate gunslinger, to stop him.
The plot of the films will not follow the books to the letter and will serve, in a way, like a sequence to the books. However, the director’s choice was troubled, with J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: the awakening of the Force) being originally the director, later replaced by Ron Howard (A brilliant mind). It was only in 2010, however, that the choice by Arcel was officially announced.
This is the second adaptation of Stephen King to win a trailer this year, the first being the remake of It: the thing, starring Bill Skarsgård in the skin of the Pennywise clown.
