review 1: This book follows a boy in an African village that was hit by a drought and crops begin to suffer. There is little money so William Kamkwamba isn't allowed to go to school, but finds time to go to the library. He figures out a way to bring electricity to his village by building a windmill our of scraps. review 2: I wish I had read this original story, the longer one, but the collage illustrations by Elizabeth Zunon add to the tale, too, of a starving boy in Malawi who used the resources available to change his world, now changing more than that! It is a story of grit and determination to solve the problem, and with meager resources found in the trash heap, a windmill was made! Zunon’s collages are beautiful to see and the story is an inspiration to share. less
