review 1: Wow, just wow. Dark doesn't begin to describe this story, Disney would be rolling over in his grave with the appearance of Snow White and her sadistic seven dwarfs and a voyeuristic Bambi look-a-like.If you want an overly gory, violent, scary version of Pinocchio full of sexual deviants and slaughtered children then this is the story for you!I'm assuming that the author was trying to say something deep and meaningful about life and society but whatever it was I missed it. The Jiminy Cockroach subplot was both boring and unsettling. Personally, I don't enjoy anthropomorphic characters taking drugs, drinking, defecating, and getting their brains blown out. Aside from the shock value, there were some aspects of the story that I enjoyed or that, at the very least, command... moreed my attention.Overall, I thought this was more of a fairy tale desecration than a re-telling.
review 2: Beautiful book richly illustrated reminiscent of R. Crumb. Great subtleties in the art, finding small details that contain their own little rewards. This book uses classic Disney tales as a launching point for all sorts of debauchery. At times fun, funny, and delightfully twisted, at other times just plain sick. Pinnocchio is a robot boy, Jiminy Cricket is a cockroach, and the seven dwarves are a gang of rapacious perverts. Even Disneyland itself has been taken over by a murderous tyrant. On the one hand, it is fun seeing these didactic tales turned on their ears. On the other, it gets bogged down in what could be called porn for nihilists. less

Probably one of the greatest tellings of Pinocchio ever. Super violent and a little comix-esque.

Much too crude for my taste, but absolutely lovely artwork.
