review 1: We were blessed to receive this fun, charming book for my son's first birthday, compliments of fellow cat-loving friends. (It's receipt prompted my husband to ask, "Did they get that for him, or is it really for you?") The author's website, Cat vs. Human, is one of my absolute favorites.I was pleasantly surprised that my little one was able to find all of the "hidden" kitties in the illustrations. Guess he's going to be a crazy cat human like his momma. I couldn't be more proud. :0)
review 2: Okay this one is probably a 3.5+, so I went ahead and gave it the 4 stars. This is definitely better than your average picture book, but I wish the cover did it justice! It isn't a book that leaps off the shelf, but once you get it open it is a very engaging read. There is... more lots of potential for interaction with this book (find the kitty, count the kitties, etc.) that would work with a single child or with a group. The illustrations are clean and very cute; the dream-spread is particularly well done. The text is incredibly simple but very effective and the illustrations support the story and add to it. (I am thinking here about the little girl in the cardboard box with the kitty.) Each kitty has it's own personality and made me chuckle multiple times throughout the story. less
