review 1: I read some other reviews to see if it was me or not. It wasn't me. The consensus is that this novella is a bit repetitive, and it is. The story is solid, the author creates the Mangler and a mythology for his character that drives the tale. There are some tense moments and scenes of violence. It moves quickly and manages to hold your interest. The writing at times is meandering and repetitive. However, despite that, it still is a gripping tale and has many high points.
review 2: Although I liked the premise of the story, the writing itself has a lot to be desired. It isn't terrible, but it is far from polished and many parts of the story seem to suffer from the lack of a smooth transition from one thought or event to another.At times, it seems as if the story ... morewas rushed and the current chain of events end as if the author wasn't sure where to take them.It was a a fun read, and enjoyable enough, but the overall writing style is clunky and seemed very passive.I would suggest this as a easy read and a decent way to pass a few hours, but don't expect a masterpiece by any means. less
