review 1: I think, creating a romantic story between human and a zombie can be quite tricky. But somehow, Warm Bodies (this statement is based on the movie I've seen, I have yet to read the book) pulled it off. I was curious whether this book can "pull off" the tricky business of creating a lovey dovey between a human and the undead. Well, I give 1 star for NO and 1 star for YES - 2 stars in all.YES because at the very least, the author gave this story an uncomplicated ending. Not romantic, not happy, not emotional - uncomplicated and a little satisfactory. I have to give that 1 star for him.As for the NO, well, this SHOULD HAVE BEEN a funny book, but sadly, it is not. That's why I said zombie-human romance can be tricky. Also, I just could not get past the fact of too much kissing.... more Too much kissing after the zombie had a swig of embalming fluid. I am serious. I know love is blind, understanding and all, but I'm sure the human body has still not changed its distaste for embalming fluid - no matter where we are in the age of humanity. The sparkling vegetarian vamps I can forgive, but the kissing in this book was just waaaay too gross for me. Maybe the author could have made it that they kiss without the zombie drinking the stuff? Not much of a great read. Try picking something else. If you do decide to read this, comment if you found the kissing disturbing too.
review 2: I got more than I bargained for. I Kissed a Zombie, and I Liked It was filled with witty and humorous banter from our main character Algonquin “Ali” Rhodes. Yes, that is a unusual name and it's explained in the book. We would normally expect our female lead to be whiney and want to follow a life into the undead but thankfully, Ali had much, much more sense. And it was refreshing to see that vampires weren't portrayed as god's gift for a change. I would have to say that this was a fun and sassy quick zombie read and is definitely something I will read again in the future. less
