review 1: In Adrianne Brennan’s Blood of the Dark Moon, we meet Amanda. She’s a graduate student at NYU working on her Thesis in Greek and Roman classics. Secretly, she’s a devoted follower of the Greek sun God, Apollo. Also practicing her own magick spells, she has no time for a social or romantic life, until she meets Jesse.Jesse, a handsome young scholar stimulates her mind because he shares Amanda’s interest in both the occult and the classics. His sexy, “business-goth” appearance ignites her passion. But Amanda suspects a secret side to her new love. Jesse introduces her to his secret world of vampires, secret societies, and magick. While their chemistry takes them to a new level of passionate intensity, Amanda learns of past lives and her role in fulfilling a legac... morey which ended tragically thirty years ago.I loved reading Blood of the Dark Moon. In addition to Amanda and Jesse, Adrianne developed so many great characters such as her new best friend, Lynne, the Magister, the librarian, and even the Gods Dionysius and Apollo. In Adrianne’s tangy paranormal vampire story, her main characters share several passionate, erotic, and unique moments together. I loved her creativity. I’ve read many stories with just vampires, just Greek gods, or just magick spells. Adrianne combines all of these elements in a new way with an impressive amount of research, especially with the Gods. I highly recommend this fast-paced, page turning tale and can’t wait to read her paranormal vampire story Blood and Mint Chocolates.
review 2: Blood of the Dark Moon by Adrianne Brennan is a steamy tale of vampires, magic and the occult. Amanda has invested all of her time and energy into being a devoted follower of Apollo and her college graduate studies. So when Jesse walks into her life and is not only interested in her studies but her religion as well, Amanda feels like a relationship may actually work between them. Just when Amanda is starting to realize that Jesse isn't an ordinary guy, she finds herself being turned into a Vampire. If that wasn't complicated enough, she is also Blood Bonded with Jesse which will connect them forever. All is not what it appears when the discovery is made that Amanda is harboring memories that contain knowledge and emotions that do not belong to her. Blood of the Dark Moon started off a little bumpy in spots but Ms. Brennan quickly found her rhythm and it only got better from there. There is a raw emotion between Amanda and Jesse where one moment they are in the throws of passion and ecstasy and the next they want to rip each others throats out due to frustration. Another wonderful thing I enjoyed about Blood of the Dark Moon is that the characters were free to follow the religious path of their choice, often depicting ancient religions that follow Greek or Egyptian Gods, without judgment. The fact that the Vampires use magic was an added bonus as well. It's not everyday you get to read about Vampires using different methods of Divination to make decisions within their Clan. Blood of the Dark Moon is an adult erotica novel that contains some bondage elements and should only be read by mature adult audiences. less
