review 1: I just love this book. I also love Ray and Christopher.Although there is background m/m romance which builds up the key thing is that this is a good crime story which is painful at time. The story moves swiftly but in a believable way. The small town feel is including the sense of innocence is nicely written.The main characters are fleshed out well that you care about them even the ones who annoy you.I am pleased to have found AJ Thomas
review 2: I can't tell if it is me or the book, but we just didn't connect. It may be that I've been reading too many similar books lately. There weren't any glaring mistakes, it just didn't grip me. As with many of these kinds of books there was too much going on:Christoper's relationship with his partner Ray Christoper's injur... moreyChristoper's relationship with his brother Christoper's relationship with DougThe crime Both Christopher and Doug has a history of sexual abuseBoth Christopher and Doug ends up in the hospitalThere are three gay law enforcement officers other than Christoper in one small town. They all hit on Christopher.I didn't like that the book spent so much time setting up the sequel. With all the time spent on Christoper and his partner, at first I thought it was going to be their story. I don't think I'll read the next book about Ray. less
