review 1: Very enjoyable story of the young daughter of a Montana demon hunter, who turns to charity work in New York City among immigrants and "Others" (vampires, skinwalkers and other non-humans). In dire financial straits, she accepts a job from a mysterious adult student- to locate a notorious criminal vampire. She also rescues a young boy who was attacked by the Turn Boys (teen vamp gang which kill and turn victims). Humorous and fun.
review 2: It was decent. I feel bad giving it just two stars because I think it's better than that, it's just really not my thing. The narrator is interesting and likable and the book is fun, but it also just feels like an excuse to romp through a fantasy version of the 1920s + supernatural creatures. ... moreect: she's a flapper who randomly sings in speakeasies despite growing up as a vampire hunter and not a singer, she's a flapper, and she hangs out with suffragettes (except in this universe they also fight for non-human rights?). Like I said, not bad, just a little too silly and lighthearted for my tastes. There are still people I would recommend it to! less

Strong heroine and good characters. I liked how it was set in the 20s so it had the 20s feel.
