review 1: En general Victus és molt entretingut i el recomanaria a qualsevol interessat en conèixer la història de la caiguda de Barcelona. Personalment, no puc dir que el llibre m'hagi enganxat completament, ja que en molts punts m'ha costat seguir endavant. M'ha agradat a trossos i això ho atribueixo principalment a la meva poca simpatia pel protagonista, que és una persona covarda i despreciable. Per més que hi penso, no se m'acut cap altre motiu per fer un personatge així, fora de que tenir aquest caràcter li ha permès sortir viu de moltes situacions i així poder després explicar la història. També se li ha d'afegir la manera com tracta la noia que li transcriu el llibre, que tampoc té cap sentit per mi. review 2: Quite gripping and on the edge of political propaganda, as it is set in the times of the siege and occupation of Barcelona by Borbonic troops during the Succession War, probably the first World War of modern times. You´ll appreciate it if you are interested in the details of history and national pride of Catalonia and Barcelona. In particular, in preparation to the coming Diada (which precisely commemorates the day, September 11th 1714, when the city was finally taken over after a long, exhausting and harsh resistance), expected to be a massive demostration of Catalan soberanism and independentism from Spain. I liked the bare, off-your-face language of Martí Zuviría, the narrator-protagonist, and you come to treasure and cherish some characters such as the tragic/epic General Antonio Villarroel. less
