review 1: My decision to read this companion book after I finished all three main books was the right one. For I wouldn't know or be able comprehend why Tony called Catherine by other name and vise versa. Or it would ruin the second book's puzzle.I was so grateful for this book because like everyone else, what I wanted to know the most what was on his mind during the accident. We all knew that he truly regret it. Reading this confirmed and make everything that I didn't understand when I first read the first book clicked and out into pieces. Including the poison, he never explained all the aspect of it to Claire and now I knew it. I was almost relieved. Almost. He truly loved her, but his promise to his Grandfather must be continued. He was so confident that she would past the test a... morend no longer on the list. He should realize that he could only push her so far before she breaks. I was glad Claire decided to fight back. At least I didn't need a minute pause or a therapy after I finished this one. I just went right to purchased the BHE: Truth.
review 2: HOLY CRAP!I never suspected that this book would be like I thought it would and I was wrong. Talk about manipulation.Tony/Anton is one cold and calculating man which you discover in book #1 to begin with but to see how his mind actually works blew me away. I don't think that I have ever felt such loathing for someone that isn't even real; yeah scared me too.I suspected from the beginning that Catherine/Marie was not the dutiful keeper of this household, that her connection with Tony was something that was long term and ran deep. How else could someone be so willing to go along with a kidnapping of a total stranger and not try to help her escape? Befriend someone almost daughter-like and then turn on them so fast. Definitely a two-faced bitch as they say. I was rather sad to see that Tony didn't die from this planned situation and I wonder what in fact will happen to Catherine; not what I'm hoping for I think. Revenge is a dish best served cold is the saying but when the revenge almost kills you is it truly worth it?Aleatha you have me hooked. less
