review 1: It came to my attention after the fact that this wasn’t in fact the first sighting of Kendra the witch and that she had appeared a book previous to this, but as I soon found out, that previous book really isn’t needed here in order to understand the story. Bewitched is set into three parts that feature the lead characters of Lisette and Emma (who Kendra decides to use her powers to help). Intricately wrapped in that story is the one of Kendra herself, told in various fairy tale formats, which I’ve also come to learn since finishing the book is this authors talent. This was a good young adult/middle school grade read. I picked it up at a book fair due to my younger son saying it would be something that as a young adult author I would like to read and he wasn’t wrong.... more I will say that while I did enjoy it, there wasn’t anything earth shattering about it that jumped out at me.There were moments throughout where I had to resist the urge to skim because of almost too much information, but past that, it read clean and I enjoyed it. Fans of young adult and even more so, paranormal elements in their reading will enjoy this. Language wasn’t a concern here, nor was there scenes remotely sexual in nature. It was a good quick and clean read.
review 2: Oh, man. This book... I have her book "Beastly" but I haven't read it yet. I've only seen the movie. This book was really, really good. I don't know if it was because of all of the different stories that had some sort of relation to each other in this because of the witch, Kendra, but they really kept me interested. This was the book that I had decided to keep in the bathroom for me to read and as my last book that I had kept in the bathroom, I ended up thinking about reading nothing else but this book until the end. I actually took it with me during my family reunion trip to Tulsa. Haha! I spent a lot of time reading the book, actually. BUT. I'm not really going to put any spoilers in here. It's just not my thing because if you're reading my "review" on it I want for you to go and get those feels that I had. My sister didn't really like the main character much because of her attitude, but I can understand the way that Emma had acted. Anyway, I thought about it earlier but if they ever come out with a movie of this, I would be excited. It would be interesting to see how they did a lot of the "flashback" scenes. less
