review 1: 2/100 books of 2014.Shelf: YA, Fantasy, RomanceRating: ★★★ 1/2 (3.5) Goodreads described it as: “Talia fell under a spell…Jack broke the curse. Think you have dating issues? Try locking lips with a snoozing stunner who turns out to be 316 years old. Can a kiss transcend all—even time?” I say: “Think of Sleeping Beauty. Then think of Aurora (now Talia) waking up 300 years later. The thing I liked about this book is how the characters are actually given attitude. Talia’s this princess and everything princess-y that goes along with it – along with her vanity. Jack is a teenager that finds the whole thing weird at all but still goes along with the adventure. The story of them falling in love is cute and light. Just enough for a light summer rea... mored.”
review 2: Talia is a princess who was cursed as a child, she is eager to turn 16, have the curse broken, and finally have some freedom. She has definitely been spoiled, but she was also restricted greatly to protect her.Jack is a modern day 17 year old boy on vacation in Europe, on a teen tour his parents stuck him on for the summer. He is bored, and really cannot find anything to be excited about, which means the when he is home, he spends a lot of time partying, doing pranks, and dating his sleazy girlfriend. However, everything is about to change for Jack, when he stumbles upon an enchanted castle while ditching his tour group. He kisses the most beautiful girl he has ever seen, only to awaken a princess that has been asleep for 300 years. That is when everything gets crazy, and to escape the dungeon, he takes her with him back to Miami. The problem is, Talia was supposed to have been awoken by "true loves kiss", but the evil fairy that cursed her, is positive that Jack's kiss wasn't one of true love, and she is out to get Talia.I have to admit, the first half of this book drove me crazy. I couldn't stand the bratty princess, or the partying teenager. Luckily, both of them grow throughout the book, and by the end I cared about both of them. (I could have done without the party scene though, although it was a turning point in the book.) It was a fun fluffy read, but the first half of the book was a little annoying. less
