review 1: Bayon is tracking the ones who attacked Ashe. But what he finds is anything but answers to what is going on. This whole thing is at least twenty-five years in the making.I swear if I hadn't bought this in a box set I would be so mad. Cliffhangers are the worst! Jean-Baptist's cat is getting out of control, the voodoo lady is causing as many problems as fixing the and Geneviere is a contradiction / distraction.
review 2: Bayon/Jean-Baptiste are books three and four in the Bayou Heat series. Each is a very short story. They are gripping, well written, and they have great characters and world building even in their shortened format. The continuing story of the Pantera, puma shifters, living in the Bayous of Louisiana. Their magic is dyeing, and they have not been
... moreable to conceive a new child in over fifty years. Until a one night stand produces a miracle. And now someone is doing their best to see that child never born.Bayon picks up right where Parish (book 2) leaves off. While searching for the man who attacked Ashe trying to kill her unborn baby, Bayon stumbles across someone he and the other Pantera thought dead these past twenty-five years. Keira was tricked and then kidnapped and held in a cage, forced to wear a collar infused with magic. Rescuing her has benefits for both the Pantera, and for Bayon personally. Keira was the one he let get away all those years ago. But first she has answers they need to track down the people trying to do damage to his people.Jean-Baptiste, is a nurturer a Pantera doctor. With all his tattoos and piercings, he comes across as anything but comforting. More scary than anything. He is needed to run into New Orleans to retrieve his tattoo artist, who also happens to be a Voodoo priestess. One they are hoping can tell them how to cure Ashe of what was injected into her body. Some kind of dark magic. He has also been assigned a partner for this trip. Genevieve, one of their "suits" (the Diplomatic Faction). The last thing Jean-Baptiste needs or wants is company of any kind. Least of all this stuffy, uptight female. But they soon learn not to judge on first impressions. They are both much more than they seem to be on the outside. And they are both hiding secrets that could destroy each other.I like this series. The are fun quick reads. My one and only complaint is they are way too short. And as with most short stories, the romance develops much too fast. I know they are dealing with a limited number of pages, but sometimes it's too forced. This is one series that has to be read in order. They are more like long chapters of a bigger book. They pick up right where the last one left off, and there is no conclusion to each story. Huge cliff hangers. less
