review 1: If I were to guess, I'd say this was the authors’ first book. Not that that's necessarily a bad thing, but in this case, the depth and development just aren't there. There's no catalyst driving the MCs reactions, so most of them come off as forced for dramatic value only. It causes the whole storyline to be weak without that additional support, and rings hollow all around. It's unfortunate, because the plot had some real promise.Another thing I noticed was the timeline was off, too. For example, when referencing a fight that happened two days ago, a character used the term "today". Stuff like that.All in all, it was a disappointing read. :(
