review 1: Like many other readers, I thought the boring diatribe of five popular girls was rather slow moving, exhausting, and seemed to go nowhere. I was trying to figure out what the point of the story was, I didn't see the conflict, I didn't see how any of the girls were really that important. Little did I know that the subtle clues the author dropped were crucial to the plot. Without giving anything away, when the twist was revealed, I was floored and blown away. Whoa!! Despite the first part seeming so pointless, the book is a great examination of serious issues. While I liked reading it and enjoyed the exploration, the ending was a little too "tied up" for me and it was wrapped up too quickly. Overall, a very good debut novel.
review 2: I wanted to like this
... more, I really did! Alissa clearly knows what teens are into, and the characters and plot are fitting. However, it was hard for me to get past the grammar - a lot of mistakes made the content a bit confusing. It was also hard for me to get hooked into the storyline. I passed it along to the teenagers I teach, however, and hopefully we will get some feedback from the age group that matters! less
