review 1: Officially, the character of Maxine (Max) Revere is introduced in this Kindle single, but I read Notorious first. The single is a great appetizer, though this particular story has nothing to do with the events in Notorious, the full-length novel that is published after this.Max Revere is an investigative reporter whose former college classmate is after her to become the star of a new TV journalism show (think On the Case with Paula Zahn.) Max hates the idea and tries to say no. Meanwhile, she is interested in the case of missing college student. Frustrated with the students who were with the boy when he went missing, she pushes the local police department as well as the college to find the truth. review 2: This is the first story in a new series by Allison Brennan. I think I will like Max Revere. I'm not sure about her having her own TV show, but I like her solving cases. This is the first story that actually sent a shiver down my spine. It probably had something to do with hypothermia. I didn't like the ending, because I thought the boys wouldn't get off as easily as they seemed to. But the head of the security department did get fired for not following proper procedures that may have been set. That's a little justice, and the mother got some closure. less
