review 1: I was clearing out 'sample' books from my Kindle when I accidentally purchased "Kiss Me, Kill Me" by Allison Brennan. Not a wasteful person, I felt compelled to read it, which was not a big problem for me as it is in the genre that I love ~ Mystery. I had never read Ms. Brennan's works before but after reading this book I can assure you she is at the top of my list."Kiss Me, Kill Me" ~Lucy Kincaid has had her fair share of hard times in her young life. She survived a horrendous kidnapping when she was a teen and more recently a near miss with a nefarious killer. She has not, however, let these horrific acts prevent her from doing what she wants more than anything - becoming an FBI agent. Everything she has done up until this point in her life (interning at the coroner's of... morefice and working to trap child predators online) has been for the sole purpose of helping her to become the best possible agent. She wants to follow in the footsteps of the rest of the Kincaid clan, but she secretly has feelings of dread that the FBI won't accept her because of her past.FBI agent Suzanne "Mad Dog" Madeaux and NY police offer Vic Panetta are part of a joint task-force investigating a series of murders in New York. Young girls are found asphyxiated and missing one shoe. The press has dubbed the murderer "The Cinderella Strangler," despite the fact that the victims aren't strangled. It appears that each girl is murdered after a night of drinking, drugging, and random sex at after-hour parties held in abandoned warehouses.Lucy's boyfriend, the ruggedly handsome Sean Rogan, is investigating the disappearance of 17-year-old Kristen Benton, who is also his distant cousin. Kristen has disappeared at least a half-dozen other times in the past, always on the weekends and she would return home by Sunday night. This time, by mid-week she still had not returned home; therefore, her parents turn to Sean Rogan and his partner Patrick, who also happens to be Lucy's brother, in the hopes that they can bring Kristen home before it is too late. It soon becomes apparent that the two cases are related and after a bit of struggle with jurisdiction and egos, the two teams begin working together to solve both cases ~ the Cinderella Strangler case and the missing teen case.Ms. Brennan detailed intelligent, likable, and memorable characters and I look forward to reading more of her work."Kiss Me, Kill Me" is fast-paced and suspense-filled from beginning to end and I am incredibly happy that I 'accidentally' purchased it!
review 2: This is book 2 in the Lucy Kincaid series and I loved watching the main characters fall farther in love. I love watching their relationship develop. I love that the heroine, Lucy, is so smart and strong yet still vulnerable to the hero, Sean. This was the story of a reported runaway and a serial killer. It is filled with many leads to follow and lots of dead ends which makes the story seem much more like a real investigation. There are some repear characters from the 1st book and some characters that we may see again in future books. I am a huge fan of series books so this was a super treat for me. less
