review 1: The Marriage Price is a short story from Alma Katsu's Taker series. It centers around the lesser character from the first book Evangeline and her impending marriage with Jonathan. His sexual use of her prior to marriage and the sense of her never living up to what he wanted or his family wanted. Only that she is there to fulfill a need for him and the community. The short story feels somewhat like a chapter or two that was taken out of the original novel and then sold off on its own. It ends abruptly and for those who have not read the Taker it will feel quite empty.
review 2: A look into an unexpected character, but it didn't really provide a light on anything unknown. It's not particularly surprising that Jonathan would have anticipated his marriage rights, n
... moreor that Evangeline would submit and later find out he was fairly free with his attentions. But it did provide a bit more fleshing out of a character who'd previously served as little more than window dressing to Jonathan's story. less

Short and sweet. Not my normal cup of tea but still enjoyable.

This book was ridiculous and it just ended abruptly.
