Ash Grove Chronicles
review 1: Paranormal suspenseful romance. Joy feels pudgy and plain compared to all the talented, beautiful people she goes to school with at her academy for the creatively talented. When she meets Tanner (Tristan)—a hot supermodel—in the graveyard when she goes there to pluck a rose on a dare at midnight, one kiss changes her life’s path. When she discovers Tanner has moved next door with the famous and ultra-beautiful Melisande, she wants to meet him again. But does she stand a chance with such a handsome guy? And what about Melisande? Even though the woman is beautiful beyond belief, she oozes evil vibes. As Joy learns more about the woman from Tanner, she knows she must break him away from the evil seductress before he is destroyed. Pretty good book.

... moreWow, that's about all I can say after being captivated by this very original retelling of Tam Lin. I must admit this is the first book that I have read by this author, and I am beyond eager to read her others. This was unlike any other young adult book I've ever read, it seemed a bit mature at times for that category. Or rather, it might have just been that the author approached the genre differently. In a more gothic way it seemed, and it worked. It made the set up of the story refreshing for a YA. The characters (even Tristan/Tanner) were flawed, I loved that. It gave them a more personal feel which kept me interested. Overall, my absolute fave character was Clark: the blunt comic relief. loved him!! This proved a great start to an interesting indie series. less
