review 1: This is the first book that I have read by Amy Bartol and it will definitely not be my last!I absolutely loved this book from start to finish. Ms Bartol has weaved a mesmerising, magical world filled with intrigue, a sprinkling of twists, intertwined with humour and a healthy dose of forbidden love. It is the perfect recipe for an outstanding story. Kricket is more than just a pretty face: she is smart, powerful and independent. She uses all of her skills and abilities to play others at their own game, and wins. She never sees herself as a victim and earns the respect (and sometimes love) of those she encounters. She is my kind of woman! I especially loved her humorous exchanges with Trey and his team.Trey is the ideal mate – handsome, fiercely protective, loyal and brav... moree, and the chemistry between him and Kricket is sizzling hot. He soon finds that resistance is useless when his heart battles over his logical brain, though he tries vehemently to deny his true feelings for Kricket. His jealousy and protectiveness of Kricket flares when Kyon tries to forcefully take Kricket to use her unique gifts for his own gain. Kyon is a villain that I love to hate. His desire for Kricket and her powers borders on obsessive, but I was impressed by his cunning and intelligence when he outsmarts and outmanoeuvres those trying to stop him in his quest. Under Different Stars is a beautifully written, perfectly paced, captivating story with enough surprises to keep me on my toes and plenty of action, love, suspense and intrigue to keep me hooked until the end. Highly recommended for lovers of paranormal romance. Can’t wait for the next book!
review 2: Warning: absolutely gorgeous cover here but really beautiful, it's actually what convinced me to apply on NetGalley for this book while I had never heard of it or the author and I regret nothing because I loved it.I want to start with the heroine that I absolutely adored, she is strong, funny, and let no one decide for her and she has a flow like no one which made me smile more than once. I thought she was taking things pretty well and she manages to do stuffs pretty well. I also loved the male trio whatsoever Trey, Jax or Wayra their dynamic is great and the links forged between them and Kricket is just sincere and touching. Then comes the plot, I must say that I have read this book pretty fast, there is action, romance and the book never slows down. But it was above all a new world with new rules and power games, I loved the universe, the difference between Ethar and Earth is evident on so many points but the author was able to play with it, the vocabulary (Polar, crystal), but also customs, and the intensity of political issues is becoming stronger with the number of pages. This book has won several awards and it is well deserved, I absolutely loved my reading from the first to the last page and I highly recommend it to everyone because we have here great stuff. less
