review 1: I was on roll, so I thought I'd give another YA novel a try. I was not disappointed in this werewolf and vampire story, that didn't always go in the direction I expected. Lots of twists and turns-- a bit more teen angst than I like, but since this is common for this genre, I took that into consideration with my rating. Well written characters, and a twisty-turny plot that was fun to follow- and often surprising. A good read!
review 2: In all honesty, if I hadn't like the plot of the book so much I would have given it one or two stars based on the author's writing style alone. It annoyed me that she didn't use a single contraction, not even during dialogue. This little tid-bit made it hard to connect with the characters in the book. If a character doesn't seem... more "real enough" or even slightly plausible then how are the readers suppose to relate to them; therefore, all but literally living out the story? So, aside from the author's horrible use of grammar, inability to choose whether or not Parker was talking in present or past tense, and her characters being far too perfect in the looks department I loved the witty sense of humor portrayed in Amy's writing. I have to admit I was super annoyed with how naive Parker was. Seriously. Two years as a werewolf and she knows nothing about her senses, and has yet to find a single werewolf??? Yet somehow she manages to single handedly kill two vampires without a struggle??? Maybe I am just too nit-picky because all the other reviews I have read on this book are all ranting and raving about how amazing it was to read! I have purchased the second book because I hate starting a series and never finishing it.My advice to the author, hire a new editor! You have great potential with a lot of grammatical and punctual errors that make your book hard to read. less
