review 1: The quiet, splintering but healing style of this book made the reading experience an enjoyable one. But the ending left me rather disoriented, I would have liked it better if it was a more rounded ending than one that was rather abrupt. But I guess the loose ends were tied up and all that's left was for both Wren and Cal to lean on each other; they are the strength for one another after all. Wren's father was a pleasure and comfort to read about throughout the book. It was a pity Zara came in later but it was a nice touch as she brightened up the atmosphere at the right time.
review 2: I connected quite strongly on a personal level with this book, hence the four stars. However, the writing at times did get prickly and mildly irritating at times, so anyone who d... moreoesn't feel a similar connection would not be as content to gloss over the flaws. Still a fine debut from McNamara, and very quotable if you're as into words that express how you feel so clearly but you couldn't find the words yourself as I am. less
