review 1: Reading this book was like basking in the sun - warm, languid, sensual. Such a slow and delightful journey. The age gap between the heroes is the biggest I've come across so far - 30 years! - but they fit together really well. Jack - a retired Master, successful writer, a bit cranky, but so wise and experienced and cavalier...I loved him. And Ricky, despite being 19, was quite mature for his age, but still had that naiveté and shine of youth. I loved their interactions, the mutual admiration and respect, the care they took of each other. There is little to no angst in the story, just a slow blooming of a tender relationship. Not to mention the hotness that is those two together. I'd have rated the book higher, but it had its flaws. 1. There were wayyy to many sex scenes. ... more2. Considering there is no major conflict in the book, it was too damn long.3. The dialogues were quite repetitive..Still, I enjoyed the book immensely, even if I had to take breaks while reading it.
review 2: WARNING!! Kinda spoilerish...Hmm I wasn't sure how to rate this book. It kinda left me hot and cold. I liked some parts and there were a lot of parts that I skimmed over. The sex scenes were very well done but there were just too many of them! I'm the kind of girl that likes a little more plot with her books and the plot we did get in between the coma-inducing sex these guys were having (seriously, I don't know how they're alive) was a little disappointing. There were a couple parts that I would've loved to read more about but I feel were just kinda glossed over with maybe a small explanation. Like Jack's past as Thale and his relationship with his 2 submissives that left him, Amanda, and apparently he had a wife that I didn't know about until like the last 10 pages, unless it was Amanda he was married to but I don't remember that being said before. I wanna know what happened! And Ricky briefly mentioned how his relationship with Ben didn't work out and that's why he was afraid of sex. I really wanted to know more about that. This book definitely could have used some flashbacks because I feel left in the dark a bit, and really those were the most interesting parts of the story. What I really loved in this book, My favorite parts, were the the ones with Ricky's friends. I loved those guys! And they were so nice and so supportive of Ricky, they really made this story for me. less
