review 1: This book was a hard start for me but once I began to get into it and recognize the characters it kept me interested. The writing is a bit choppy in the beginning, a lot of back story and how their lives become intertwined, but once through this the story takes off. The characters are unique, interesting and keep you interested. The story does keep you engaged and wondering what is going to happen next. I find this is key to a good suspense story. The ending was good and I enjoyed the book. Will read this author again he has become one to watch for me.

... moreusiness has slowed down since 9/11, he finds out his daughter is very ill and needs a kidney transplant, his health insurance has been cancelled and he doesn't have enough money to pay for Lucy's transplant he searches for her mother who has been out of the picture for several years. When he realizes there is no way he can afford to get the transplant for his daughter he does what every father would do he gets involved in drug trafficking. We learn about John's family and especially his policeman brother. The book starts a little slow but stay with it because it is a very good book. I found it almost impossible to put it down. less
