Canada turns 150 this year! To celebrate, we’ve come up with some truly Canadian cocktails to keep the party going this July 1st.
Classic Caesar
Start the morning off right with most world renowned Canadian invented cocktail there is. Created in Calgary in 1969 by Walter Chell, the Caesar is the quintessential brunch drink. If possible, try Alberta’s own Rig Hand Garlic Vodka instead of regular vodka.
- Celery salt
- Lime wedge
- 4-6 oz. Clamato Juice
- 1½ oz. Vodka
- 2 dashes Hot sauce
- 4 dashes Worcestershire sauce
- Freshly ground pepper to taste
- 1 Crisp celery stalk
Montreal Smoked Meat Cocktail
Come midday the festivities are just starting to ramp up, but first you’ll need a liquid lunch! This Whisky & Comics original is inspired by the Bullshot cocktail and the best sandwich you can eat from la belle province de Quebec.
- Yellow mustard
- Coarse ground pepper
- 1 oz. Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye
- ½ oz. Dill pickle vodka (we used Saskatchewan’s Lucky Bastard Dill Vodka)
- 2.5 oz. Canned beef broth
- 2 dashes Liquid smoke
- Dill pickle
Nanaimo Flip
To end the day, Whisky & Comics created this homage to Canada’s favourite dessert, the Nanaimo bar.
- 1 oz. Semi-sweet chocolate
- ½ tbsp Butter
- Coconut flakes
- Graham cracker crumbs
- 3 oz. Vanilla rum such as Blue Chair Bay
- 1 Fresh egg
- 2 tsp Icing sugar
- 1 oz. Cream
Cheers to you Canada!
