review 1: A staff recommendation at my local library and fond memories of this beautiful area in Italy drew me to this novel. The details of the architecture, natural beauty and food evoked wonderful images for me, but the focus on high fashion and hand wringing about love interests did little to hold my attention. The secrets and mysteries within the story were inventive, but the reaction of the characters (most one dimensional,) a bit stereotyped and dramatic.
review 2: well, i'm embarrased that i like some reality tv. and i am equally embarrassed that i read this book, or that i did not put it down. constant name dropping of designers in reference to the characters outfits was particularly annoying. the fact that i guessed the supposed twist in the first half of the... more book was testimony to the predictability of the inevitable saccharine ending. suffice it to say all that warrants two stars for this book is the memories of lake como that it brought me. less
