review 1: I don't know how I'm just now reading this. I bought it on my Kindle the other day, but had never heard of it before, and I consider myself a bit of a turtle connoisseur! It's a love story. A book about the love between a husband and wife, husband and turtles, and turtle & turtle. Cute & entertaining, a fast read that will have you laughing out loud & quoting passages to anyone who will stand still to listen (including your dog). I LOVED it. And it's educational, to boot. Follow a Turtle Wife's transition from unknowing to near expert, you have no idea how much fun it will be. And how hard these Turtle People work, relentlessly.

Love really does conquer all when you learn to date, live with and marry someone who eventually turns your home into a turtle sanctuary. The love affair with nature conservation and the budding affection for all shapes and sizes of these prehistoric remnants round out the other limbs of this quirky love affair.You may bristle at the appalling conditions under which turtles are captured, transported and sold, and grow indignant when the author is referred to as a “freak.” You’ll probably grin at the rolls of film used to capture what one turtle lover calls “hard-shelled porn.” And you just might learn a thing or two.Salzberg’s writing style is clear, crisp and witty. Confessions of a Turtle Wife is an easy, breezy—yet informative and heartwarming—read. less
