Day 42

I have to read more books for my English class and edit a paper tonight so I won’t be able to get back to recreational reading until  at the earliest tomorrow afternoon. However, I did finish Safe In His Arms this morning and I’m GUSHING! So sweet and beautiful!! Anyways, before I start homework for the night I want to do this new tag that Alexa and Kristin started called the Ice Cream Book Tag!! It sounded like fun and I’m kind of excited to do more tags now that I have a book blog sort of. So here we go!

  • Vanilla – a book you wish had more flavor
    • I read this free e-book a couple months ago called With This Click I Thee Wed  by Bonnie R. Paulson and Candy Crum and the concept for it sounded so interesting. E-mail order brides! For some reason I’m hard pressed to find a really good E/mail order bride book, but this one really needed more fleshing out. The characters lacked depth and the descriptions of the area was lacking a bit, I gave it three stars still because it was cute, but it still could have used a bit more detail. It had the potential to be a really good and addictive series.
  • Chocolate – a long book or an immersive world that you enjoyed indulging in
    • The Princess Diaries!! After I get through these library books I’m diving straight back into this world. I know it’s a contemporary series, but my high school life was not nearly as eventful as Mia’s and she seems HELLA introverted based off what she’s telling us in her entries. It’s such a good series and even at the adult age of 22, I can honestly say I’m thoroughly enjoying them.
  • Strawberry – a romance that was super sweet
    • Safe In His Arms by Colleen Coble!! haha I might feel this way because I just finished reading it this morning, but it was just so heartwarming I could die! I related so much to the heroine Margaret with her insecurity about her height and just how caring Daniel was for her had me swooning the entire book!! 10/10 would read again!
  • Ice cream sundae – a book encompassing all the elements you love
    • This is a hard one because I love too many different types of tropes and themes. Recently my favorite things are royals, cowboys, and baseball (I don’t even like sports I don’t understand myself on this one!!).  I may have to go with The Royal of  Monterra series by Sariah Wilson. These were all super sweet and addictive stories. I loved that it was about Royals, there was a girl who was 24, in grad school and was celibate! Like yes! Thank you, don’t get enough of these in contemporary new adult. Another element that I loved is that one of the princes was a gaming nerd, I love a good nerdy story. I also love that instead of slut shaming Lemon they showed that she was just looking for love and kept making mistakes but that was also okay. It was just a really good series all around.
  • Milkshake – a book that blends genres
    • I feel like romance is sort of the genre that can easily go with anything else anyways which is why I love it so much, but one book that wasn’t purely romance that I read this year was Third Daughter by Susan Kaye Quinn. This blended elements of steam punk and romance together. The written was dense but also so well done. I can’t wait to finish the series.
  • Sprinkles – a book with a colorful cover
    • I feel like this will become a pretty standard answer but I have to go with The Sun Is Also a Star by Nicola Yoon, it’s literally a rainbow explosion on the cover.
  • Ice cream cake – a book worthy of a celebration
    • The Hating Game by Sally Thorne, that was quite possibly the best chick lit novel I ever read. I’ve only been back to reading for the last year but it was still fantastic!! The things that make chick lits and other romances great is the journey rather than the ending because we all know how they’ll end relatively. I LOVED both characters and their banter was fabulous!! I have plans to re-read this before the year ends I love it so much! Please read this!!
  • Ice cream cookie sandwich or three scoops on a cone – a book with multiple perspectives
    • Have to go with The Sun Is Also a Star again, it had perspectives for everybody that encountered the two main characters.
  • Waffle cone – a book you felt compelled to read very quickly
    • The Vampire Stalker by Allison van Diepen. I feel like nobody knows about this book, it’s SO GOOD! I picked it up thinking it was just gonna be a super cheesy and awful vampire book that I could laugh at maybe but BOY WAS I WRONG! IT WAS HELLA ADDICTIVE. I picked it up and couldn’t stop reading it, for such a short book the characters were great and very well written. I felt like I wanted to be inside of this world and because it’s so short I will definitely be reading this one again!
  • Pint – a book you set aside but plan on going back to later
    • The My Paper Hearts quartet by Magan Vernon. I picked up the boxset on kindle for 99c and only read book one. I gave it three stars but I think about it constantly and definitely want to finish the series, each book is 300 pages and is written as a super easy going summer read. I’ll definitely get back to it, I haven’t given up on it yet!
  • Your preference – cup or cone?
    • cup! you get more ice cream that way
  • Your preference – favorite flavor?
    • coffee
  • Your preference – toppings? y/n
    • yes! either oreo, or chocolate chips or both
  • Your preference – favorite local ice creamery
    • cold stones
  • Best shared with friends – who do you tag?
    • whoever wants to do this I guess go ahead! I’m not a big enough blog to be tagging people, I just want to have fun and do these tags lol
  • Update: No new books!!
