review 1: I wouldn't say this book is bad, however it did take me quite a while to get through for such a short book. The characters are likable enough and the writing is good, but there is no plot. I found this book very boring. Also, there is a kind of awkward relationship between Ashish and his much older tutor, Narayan. Despite the fact that Ashish is 19, and therefore technically an adult, the relationship between these two characters felt...wrong. Read it if you want, but I can't say I recommend it to anyone.
review 2: Saraswati Park is a suburban housing colony in Mumbai. The people who live there are neither rich or poor and live ordinary suburban lives. This is a class of Indian society largely ignored by a lot of novelists, who concentrate on the social extreme... mores. Indian society forms a rich tapestry of life and the colours and pattern are no less fascinating in the middle, as this book shows.The synopsis gives far too much detail of the story! less
