review 1: This is a super-short read, a mere 33 pages long. At that length, it's no easy feat to set up a pair of engaging characters and develop some kind of plot. The author did a good job balancing the two, but I still came away a little unsatisfied. There are events and people mentioned that seem to have little to no impact on the outcome of the story. In addition, the story spans some length of time, so much of the love story is "off stage/camera". The vast majority of the wordcount/pagecount is sex.I will say, however, that the sex scenes, while mostly vanilla (there is one anal scene) were steamy and well written.
review 2: Very cute short story to introduce Jacobs' Gridiron series. Involves two citizens of Hedgecock, TX, both graduates of that high school that n
... moreow is trying to raise funds in a difficult economy to renovate the football field. Melanie is the mother of one of Hedgecock's newest pro quarterbacks--a divorcee that Cal Tate noticed and liked alot twenty years ago but she never acted on their attraction. Now he wants to "have a go" at a relationship with her--she is beautiful and mature, he is lonely since the death of his wife five years earlier, and their attraction is still there. Lots of sizzle in these few pages, but a very winsome love story. I have always been a sucker for "love re-visited" kinds of stories and this is such a good one. Best part: it's a "free read" so moves into the "must read" category for romance fans and for fans of Ann Jacobs. less

I had higher hopes for this one. it had the potential but it was too choppy for my liking.

Why do all of these books have the same cover? And why are all of them so awful?
