review 1: Finally getting through some books that have been on my list for a while. After the hype is over, sometimes it is hard to go back and pick up one. However, I am certainly glad I did in this case. I seldom laugh and cry over the same story. Can people actually grow at this lightening rate? We can all hope. I did love most of the characters and identified a lot of different people I have known over the years. Always love a hopeful ending.
review 2: This book has stealth depth, which emerges slowly throughout the story. It takes a lighthearted approach at first, despite the story being about the death of a loved one. Slowly, we learn about the many hidden layers that exist between and among family members and lovers. The characters have very real, life-sized... more problems, and the find the strength to handle them in many touching ways. Their relationships take unexpected and lovely paths.
