review 1: Cherry Tree Lane formed part of a Christmas gift I gave myself and what a wonderful thoughtful treat it proved to be. This enchanting historical story is set in England early in the 20th century, a wonderful period to weave a relationship. Women were finding a voice while many men struggled to understand what sharing meant or could mean.Anna Jacob's novel is book one of the Wiltshire Girls Series, a three-book exposé about the trials of three sisters who find themselves separated and searching. --- I loved `Cherry Tree Lane' another five stars for Anna Jacobs.
review 2: Another book enjoyed especially as it told the story of what happened to one of the sisters mentioned in a previous book. Mattie runs away from home at the same time as her sisters as she can't
... more bear to marry a man her father has sold her to. But she is ill and collapses before she has succeeded in putting a great distance between herself and her father. Luckily for her a man and his children find her and nurse her back to health. The kindly landowner also cares for her and thinks more of her than her cousin who is trying to cheat her out of her house. She also notices the attraction between the two people and says she'll give Jacob a decent job but he'll need to be married. They both have doubts but do agree and find themselves happy with the decision. What they didn't realise was that Emily had wrote a will leaving everything to Mattie. less
