review 1: Disclaimer: The author and I both attended Seton Hill University's Writing Popular Fiction program (though not at the same time). I purchased this book at full price. This is pretty much the first straight-up erotica novel I've ever read, so I don't have much to compare it with. I never really got into the genre because I figured I'd either skim the boring gratuitous sex scenes and focus on the action/adventure/plot bits or focus on the strong, intense erotica and skim the filler masquerading as plot. Either way, I didn't want to feel like I was only purchasing or appreciating half a book. But I'm glad I took a chance on CLOSE QUARTER. Wow, was I wrong. This book is not very long, but it packed in enough world building and dramatic history between the villain and protagonist... mores for an entire epic fantasy. The plot was intense and dramatic, no matter which plot you are focusing on: the growing relationship between the protagonists, or the quest to destroy the vampires that one of the protagonists is on. None of the characters ever feel one-dimensional, and the sex is never gratuitous. Rather, everything served to drive the story forward in its own way. This is definitely the sort of novel where I didn't want to leave the world. I want more about the two protagonists' future together. I want more about the world of fae, vampires, and Messengers that Zabo has created. I've even invested in the life of a waiter and would love to read more of his story!I'm so pleased that this novel introduced me to the best that erotica/paranormal romance could be. Let it introduce you, too.
review 2: 3.65*The world building was interesting, I thought, Rhys is on a cruise trying to get away from the spotlight, his mother just died and left him oogles of money, money he got from his father , but see, he thought he had known who his father was, but obviously he didn't.Now, that part is important, because his real father was half Fae which makes him a Quarter. I'm not going to get into all of it, it's a little too much to explain in a few sentences, but Rhys life is about to change forever since his Fae heritage comes to the forefront when he meets Silvas. Silvas works for the Messangers ( aka Angels) killing Vampires, he's been doing it for about 2000 years, he's weary and alone and a bit jaded, but Rhys rocks his world. There is a lot of action, history, world building and sex in this book and even if it only covers about a week in time it feels a lot longer. I have a feeling we might get another book with these two, or at least maybe Vasil's story, which I would like to read. less

Really enjoyed visiting this world. I loved Silas and Rhys. Rhys was a feisty, stubborn mess!
